I measured and leveled guide lines for the shower tile and carefully put in the very first piece yesterday.
Then, I slowly extended the line of tile across the back wall, 
wiggling everything to make it level and checking each piece about five times. It still looks crooked, but the bubble in the level doesn't lie! I think it also may have to do with the fact that the tub isn't level and there's white thinset smeared above the white tile, 
making it look jagged.

making it look jagged.I'm letting the row set until tonight to make sure it's strong enough for the tiles that are going on top. In the meantime, I put in a couple extra hours on the floor last night and have finished about two thirds of the way down where the vanity will go.
