The Floor is Starting to Look Like a Floor

Ryan was out of town Friday night and most of Saturday, and I couldn't move forward with the shower cement board alone. So, I started tiling the bathroom floor in the afternoon, with the thought that if I can't finish the whole thing, I at least want to put down the floor by the toilet so we can get that in and working. After obsessive-compulsively laying everything and determining where the cuts should hit, I spent a long time laying the first tile and lining it up with my determined pattern. By the end of the day, this is what the floor looked like. The process was painstakingly slow, but when I started up again on Sunday, I was able to get into a groove, fill in the rest of the toilet area, and get a row laid in front of the tub.

The slowest part of the process is wiping up the edges. If I leave too much thinset on the sides, when I go to put in the next rows at a later time, there will be hardened thinset in the way.
