The Demo Begins
I started the bathroom demolition by pulling up the Pergo floors, revealing a not-so-bad yellow linoleum underneath. I'd never use it in this day and age, but it just adds to my curiosity about why someone would use wood laminate in the bathroom. It's dated, yes, but there's certainly less wrong with it than the Pergo.
Here's the Pergo underlayment--definitely not meant to survive bathroom moisture--and its lovely mold. There's some damage now to the subfloor as well, but it seems sturdy. I think some of the "mold" might actually be whatever adhesive was used to secure flooring materials.
