The first task was to patch and repair the walls. He and Ryan took down the massive over-fireplace mirror, but it was quite a struggle. The mirror was mounted underneath the crown moulding and actually extended all the way to the ceiling. They had to break it off in pieces and try to slide the mirror out. It worked for the most part, but the edge of the moulding was attached and broke off in some places. After a couple layers of caulk to fill it in, it looks like nothing ever happened. My dad also had to patch and level all the spots where adhesive stuck the mirror to the wall (look at that pink!).
Now that it's done and the wall is primered, you can see the outline and patches only if you're really looking.
