Almost every morning and evening, I've spent a couple hours digging the weeds out from the side of the yard, leveling the dirt, and laying down plastic to keep the weeds from returning.
Since we are putting the raised bed at the back of the yard, we needed to transplant the small tree in the corner to elsewhere in the yard. The plan was to put it in the mid-way point between the two trees on the side of the yard, which also perfectly aligned with the visual center of our neighbors' garage. Before:

I'm not sure why this tree was crammed into the corner in the first place. It wasn't evenly spaced with the other two trees and was in the shade of a neighbor's tree for most of the day. I think it makes much more sense to have the three spaced as they are now.
