Change of Plans

I finished putting in the cinderblock edging last night and started digging out around the lemon tree for a paver surround.  My plan had been to go to the brick store today to find something that would form a circle, but in the midst of digging, I hit concrete.  Further digging in the fading light proved it was a cast in place edging, but it got too dark before I could figure out if it was intact.  First thing this morning, I uncovered the entire thing.

 

Most of it is solid, but one side is missing its corners and has some broken pieces.  Ryan took a look before work and we decided that we might as well save some money on the pavers and keep this piece.  After all, the lawn edging is all broken pieces that I dug up, so this really isn't any different.  I went ahead and dug out the middle section before the sun really hit the area.  Tonight, I'll attempt to slope the outer area toward the cement so there will be a gradual slant in the lawn, rather than a drop off of a couple inches.
