Trimming the Doors and Floor
Last week, I'd bought trim to go around the exterior doorway and the kitchen door on the dining room side, but I soon realized the trim was just a tiny bit thinner than the previous trim in the dining room. If I'd put it up right then and there, there would have been a thin strip of lovely avocado green paint around the trim. There was also a crack above the doorway where some drywall tape had peeled up along with the old trim, so I patched everything on Friday. First thing this morning, I found the bucket of Sand Dollar--the color of the living room/dining room and hall--paint and rolled it out around the door. When it dried, I couldn't tell where the new paint ended and the old paint started, or where the green had been, so I didn't bother painting a larger section. Instead, I nailed up the trim pieces.
A quick jaunt to Home Depot, and I was back at work on the baseboards. They didn't have exactly the same kind that we've put elsewhere in the house, but the one I got is very similar and I'm sure no one will notice. There's one piece that I didn't install because the wall is really out of whack with the tile, but everything else is cut and nailed into place.
