And the Winner is...

Forged Iron!

Because the mosaic is a mix of glass and stone, I had to seal the stone pieces. When I put on the sealant, it darkened the stone and made it look like colby jack cheese. I was afraid because cocker spaniel + cheese was not the look we're going for (though that is Ryan's favorite cheese), but as the sealant dried, the stone lightened up again. You can sort of see the difference here between wet with sealant and unsealed.
I have to wait 24 hours for the sealant to fully cure, but I went ahead and laid out sections of the backsplash and even made the cuts. That means the tiles should go up faster.
I also put up the metal, or rather "metal," panels around the stove. It was pretty easy to make the few cuts and glue them up with construction adhesive.
