Making (Micro)Waves
We've finished installing the cabinet boxes! We started today with the tall pantry cabinet that goes next to the range. Since the microwave was going to be mounted next to that cabinet, we opened up the packaging to take measurements and realized the specs on the Internet were wrong. As a result, Ryan had to install an outlet instead of hard wiring the microwave.
Once that was squared away, we put in the top cabinet and hung the microwave. It's a little higher than the standard installation directions, but it just seemed so low otherwise. I can reach inside without a problem--even though Ryan doesn't think I can--so that's all that matters.
We also created a small cabinet to fill the nine inches left to the corner in the main run of lower cabinets. The cabinet box had been 12 inches deep, so Ryan cut off the back and then carefully drilled holes for all the hardware that would have been in that back portion. It looks a little silly, but we'll be able to use the cabinet for cookie sheets and other flat items.
