Under the Floor

The key to a good tile job is a good foundation, or so I've heard. I picked up some roll-out underlayment, rather than cement board, to help reduce the difference in floor heights between the kitchen and dining room. If you recall, I used 1/4 inch cement board in the bathroom, and now there's pretty much a ramp into the bathroom.

I first had to clean the subfloors and paint on the adhesive primer.
Then it was just a matter of getting the first piece down and straight, which involved a lot of hitting the sticky tar edges on the freshly painted wall. At least it's behind cabinets.
The rolls do go down faster than cement board, which has to be adhered with thinset and screws, but they still take a long time.
We're ready for tile tomorrow!
