The Story So Far Today

First off, the Weather Channel lies. We knew it was going to be a little warmer--allegedly 85 degrees--after a cold gray week, but it's currently 99 degrees (and 90 inside). That's why I'm writing this update with a fan on me at full blast instead of at Home Depot with the boys.

We started this morning with a trip to Home Depot, picking up 16' of both baseboards and window trim for the bathroom. Ryan and Dad meticulously measured out the baseboards (then realized we were short and Ryan went back to Home Depot) and I drilled out pilot holes for nails.
I told Dad that the likelihood of losing another finger was very, very low. I also said I'd be sure to take another picture if blood started spurting out. He did not appreciate that.
We dry fit the baseboards and window trim, which already make the bathroom look so much neater. We've dealt with jagged, unpainted drywall and uneven tiles for so long that we got used to it...but the tranformation is pretty amazing and the boards aren't even in.

We put on the first coat of paint before attaching the boards, so they're currently drying in the garage.
After lunch, I started going through all the boxes of childhood stuff that Dad brought down, trying to roughly sort what I'll keep, sell, and send back home for charity. Ryan started making up for missing round one of sprinkler digging. He trenched along the side of the house and Dad helped put in the pipes.
But, there weren't enough parts, so back to Home Depot again.
And that's what's happened so far today.
