Backyard Border

With nice weather this weekend, I thought I'd try digging up the rest of the edging cinderblocks around the backyard. Turns out, they're not cinderblocks, but rather more cement strips. These were made as one continuous pour, unlike the strips behind the house, so even though they'd cracked apart, the cracks fit together again when I laid them back down.I also raked out the area behind the house some more and tried cleaning out some of the dead bits from the bird of paradise. I've been reading about how to split up the plant, so we'll be trying that soon.
Meanwhile, our State Fair redwood is growing quite well in its bucket, despite the fact that the forest service guy told me "good luck" getting it to live in Southern California.
