I got home a little early this afternoon, so I was able to help Ryan pull up the floor. He'd decided that instead of trying to remove the four (!) layers of linoleum, we should take out the entire plywood subfloor. Very smart. A couple passes with a circular saw, and we were able to take out entire three or four foot square sections. We still have half the kitchen area to do, since without lighting in the space we can't really work too late, and plugging in lamps is just far too difficult.
The one minor problem we've had is that some tiny nails get left behind, and then it's a pain to pry them out or tap them in, but Ryan took care of that.
