The Surprises of Demo

Since next weekend is our scheduled kitchen demo weekend, we worked today on what I call "detail demo": moving stuff out of the kitchen, removing trim, taking down cabinets for reuse. Basically, anything where we can't just take a sledgehammer and go, and where we don't need a dumpster for waste. Of course, with demo comes surprises. For example, if we'd had this kitschy fruit wallpaper on our kitchen this whole time, maybe I'd like it more.Or the fact that the glass and mirror shelving in the former ironing board cove was built in place and had to be removed very carefully.

Or that not only were the cabinets not cabinet boxes, but the one upper cabinet that I thought would be really great in the garage was essentially doors hinged on trim pieces with scrap wood shelves.
