Fair Vanity

One good thing about Ryan being out of work is that I can leave a honey do list on the computer keyboard in the morning (since, of course, the first place he goes when not working is to play computer games) and most or all of the work is done by the time I get home. In addition to normal household chores, this week I had him attach a trim piece below the bathroom vanity and put the shelf back into the vanity.

Before we installed the vanity, I'd attached a block of scrap wood to the cement board subfloor. Then, I stained a piece of baseboard the length of the vanity to finish it off and keep dirt from underneath the cabinet. Of course, that was almost a year ago, and the piece has been sitting in the kitchen ever since. I had to remove all the grout from the tiles in front of the vanity before it could be installed. This weekend, I worked on the grout after a nine or 10 month hiatus. Only the rows in front of the vanity are done, but hey, it's something.

The shelf had not been put back into the vanity because, as you'll recall, it's a buffet cabinet and not actually a vanity. That meant that some changes needed to be made, most notably cutting a hole in the middle for the drain pipe. Ryan also had to attach it below where the shelf originally sat--so it's attached to the bottom of the side support strips, rather than the top--to accommodate the water lines.
