It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

After a break for Ryan's Thanksgiving visit, I am back on my household duties. Actual home improvement work, however, is taking a backseat to holiday preparations. While he was here, Ryan strung up the outdoor Christmas lights, but some of them were out and they didn't stretch far enough, so I had to work on them this weekend.
It's a good thing that he started the work, because there's no way that I could have reached the top of the peak without buying a new ladder. Of course, that's where the lights were out. I found a missing bulb toward the bottom of the peak (while standing on the top step and stretching), and replacing it fixed the outage. I also added and rearranged some of the strings. Here's the result.
After that was done, I went on a search for the Christmas tree. I found it in the rafters of the garage (it wasn't supposed to be in the garage, especially since the tree skirt--my childhood tree skirt--was in with it). But, it's falling apart so I went ahead and got a new, much nicer tree that has more realistic tips. The bottom two sections are old lights so they're just thrown on, but I spent most of yesterday wiring new lights to the top section (which apparently needs to be pushed down more now that I'm looking at this photo).
I also got a $9 pre-lit string of garland to throw on the mantel.
